Galle, located on Sri Lanka’s stunning southern coast, is a city where history and the ocean meet. Its famous UNESCO-listed Dutch Fort showcases colonial charm, narrow cobblestone streets, boutique cafés, and art galleries. Just beyond the fort, golden beaches and turquoise waters make Galle a perfect blend of culture and relaxation.

Galle is best visited between November and April when the south coast is dry and sunny. Inside the fort, most sights are walkable, while tuk-tuks are handy for nearby beaches like Unawatuna and Jungle Beach. A day trip from Colombo is possible, but staying overnight lets you enjoy the fort’s evening charm and coastal sunsets.
